I Vimal Singh want apply for GATE 2007 .I have completed MCA in 2005 .But I am confused regarding the paper to apply CS or
IT. It is anew paper started in Gate. So is there a chance that less student will apply for IT.
Also I want to know is the college accepting gate score of It is very few?
I will be very oblidged If u help me.

Hi Vimal,
This is Sumit Roy from delhi.....i am an 2007 Gate aspirant, and will appear in IT. As per my knowledge in CS /IT 10% difference is in subjects.If you will appear in IT you need to Study Software engineering and web technology, and in CS there is no SE/WT ,instead CS paper has compiler.Also in IT paper you need not to study Turing machine(which is a part of automata theory) but in CS paper you have to study that part also.
Also there is a huge difference(between CS/IT students) in seats in IITs ,
you need to have a rank within 1 to 50 (in IT) for getting a direct admission,
where is CS 1-100 rank is sufficient for getting an entrance.
