The results are declared in the form of a percentile score calculated as follows: If the total number of examinees in a given discipline is, say 5940, and the number of examinees who have secured marks less than the candidate is, say 5830, then the percentile score of the candidate is: (5830 / 5940) x 100 =98.15 This score ceases to be valid after March 31st of the second year following the year of declaration of GATE results.
