I am a graduate mechanical engineer with 7 years experience. I would like to appear for the GATE-2007 exam. I have got second class (49%) in the mechanical engineering. If i get a valid score in the GATE examination, would my degree percentage be hinderance to admission for M.Tech programme.

Is first class mendatory for all the colleges? I am ready to take admission in any of the engineering college apart from IITs.

 Hi,
Well, there is no unique answer to your question, and it varies from institution to institutions. A couple of colleges may say that they are looking for only 1st class Mech Grads, while some may say that whatever may be your past records, that matter little. All that matters is GATE score.

Generally speaking, a good GATE is is generally sufficient to get you admission in most of the colleges.
